The Week Ahead: 2/22/26

Team, Friends, Old Cityzens,

The CrossFit Open is here, and we’re kicking things off with Friday Night Lights this week at 5:30 p.m. Plan to hit your workout, then stick around to hang out, cheer people on, and bring family or friends to be part of the chaos. Remember, the CrossFit Open workout will be the workout for all classes Friday.

For the next three weeks, Muscle Lab will be cancelled during that time slot so we can put all our energy into the Open.

I don’t generally reprogram the whole week around the CrossFit Open, but you’ll notice Thursday is intentionally a bit easier. If the Open really matters to you, this is a good week to pull back a bit on overall volume (doubles with engine, accessory work). I generally feel VOLUME (IE, total reps) is often the main culprit when you’re feeling beat. You might be able to push the weight a bit, but perhaps divide the sets and reps in half.

Lastly, thanks so much to all who came out to our first Surrender class this past Sunday. We hope your Sunday was better because of it… I know Coach Mike had a blast.

The Week Ahead:

Monday - We start with our second week of pause back squat. Then a shorter version CrossFit Open 18.1… CrossFit Open week, right? Toes to Bar, single Arm DB Clean and Jerk, Rowing. 12 minutes.

Tuesday - Third Week of Close Grip Floor Press and Top Down Row. Then, another middle Distance WOD with burpees, light-ish barbell front rack Lunges, and sit-ups. Second day of abs in a row!?

Wednesday - A play on double strength. We start with power position power snatch (always be practicing.) Then transition our newly found skills to an E2MOM of Power Snatch and Strict Chin Up. Stupid simple. We’ll add in two additional strength movements after the E2MOM for a bit of added work.

Thursday - Ring Dip and Yates Row, followed by a sprint/rest of running, box jumps, Wall Ball. I know you’re seeing that combo and thinking… whoah, wasn’t Thursday easy? It’s a shorter one, not too many reps, and the rest is generous, I promise.

Friday - CrossFit Open!?!??!

Saturday - Partner WOD.
